Candidates are now invited to apply for the Government of Hungary Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship. This scholarship program to study in Hungary aims to support the internationalization of Hungarian higher education and its constant development. This will strengthen the international relations of the academic and research community, enhance the cultural diversity to promote the good reputation and competitiveness of Hungarian higher education throughout the world.

The program also aims to establish and encourage the personal and professional attachment of foreign graduates to Hungary, and contribute to the promotion of Hungarian culture and language abroad. The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships are available for Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, one-tier master’s degree (cover both bachelor and master level studies), doctoral degree, and non-degree programs (preparatory and specialization courses).

This scholarship program to study in Europe is managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and coordinated by Tempus Public Foundation. Last year (2021), nearly 50 0000 applications were received and more than 4700 scholarships were awarded. Scholarship Duration:

  • Stipendium Hungricum Bachelor’s Scholarships: 2-4 Years
  • Stipendium Hungricum Master’s Scholarships: 1.5-2 Years
  • One-tier master: 5-6 Years
  • Stipendium Hungricum Doctoral Scholarships: 4 Years
  • Non-degree Programs: 1 Year

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Benefits in 2022-23:

For B.A/M.A, One Tier Masters, Non-Degree Programs

  • No tuition fee.
  • Monthly stipend of HUF 43,700 (cca EUR 120) for 12 months.
  • Free dormitory residence or an accommodation allowance of HUF 40,000 per month will be provided for the whole duration of the program (it does not cater to the full residential cost).
  • Medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (cca EUR 180) for 12 months per person is given.

For PhD in Hungary:

  • No tuition fee.
  • Monthly stipend of HUF 140,000 (cca EUR 390) for the first phase of 4 semesters.
  • Monthly stipend of HUF 180,000 (cca EUR 500) for the second phase of 4 semesters until the completion of studies.
  • Free dormitory residence or an accommodation allowance of HUF 40,000 per month will be provided for the whole duration of the program (it does not cater to the full residential cost).
  • Medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (cca EUR 180) for 12 months per person is given.

Eligibility Criteria of Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2022:

  • Candidates from the eligible countries may apply.
  • Candidates applying for a bachelor’s degree must have a secondary school graduation certificate.
  • Candidates must have an excellent academic record.
  • Candidates applying for a master’s degree should have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates applying for doctoral degrees should have a master’s degree.
  • Candidates applying for a one-tier or non-degree program must have a certificate of student status issued by the sending/home university.
  • Candidates must be nominated by the responsible authorities of the Sending partner countries.

How to Apply for Stipendium Hungraicum Scholarship 2022-23?

  • The applicants have to apply online on the website of the Tempus Public Foundation.
  • Provide all your detailed personal information, e.g., name, address, date of birth, country, religion, etc.
  • Complete all the required fields for each level.
  • The applicants have to submit the application on the website and save it.
  • After submitting the application on the Tempus Foundation website, the applicants need to apply also through the sending partner of the countries they belong to.
  • Candidates are required to accept the statement for application in the online system.

Required Documents for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2022:

You need to prepare and upload the following documents for the Hungary Government scholarship.

  • Online Application Form
  • National ID card or Passport Copy
  • Academic Transcripts.
  • Certificate of Education (school-leaving Qualification, High school diploma, a document of Graduation or any Equivalent, University or College Diploma/Certificate or any equivalent; all in English (translated).
  • Certificate or Proof of citizenship and/or permanent residence (e.g. Passport).
  • Short Resume/CV
  • One-pager motivation letter in the specified format of 12 Times New Roman in the Hungarian language.

  • Citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States of America applying for the Medicine program of the University are required to submit their Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) results.
  • Portfolio and Audio Portfolio (for Art and Music applicants only).

Note: IELTS/TOEFL Language Certificate is Not a Compulsory to apply for scholarship.
